Baby Shower

Gosh I sure felt the love on this day!  For someone who’s not big on showers (and admittedly tried to get out of having both a wedding and baby shower because the thought of all that attention is a little too much for me)… it was so special to celebrate baby boy, and to have all of my favorite ladies here.  Also, something about getting all of those essentials and ticking off the baby shower made me feel like his arrival is finally just right around the corner.  AND it’s October?!  So so crazy!

My sister, cousin and mom made this day perfect in every way for me.  We lucked out with the best weather–not too warm and not too cold so we could spend the afternoon comfortably in our backyard.  (In fact it rained the very next day so we really lucked out.)  Low-key and zero games were my only request.  We compromised by coming up with a simple match the celebrity to the baby name game which everyone seemed to have fun with, especially those into reality TV.  I would have totally lost–I haven’t been in the reality TV / PeopleMag loop since my college days although I do know about the Brad-gelina split(!).  And although I’ve been trying not to do too much of the stereotypical baby boy blue, with my serious indigo love affair, an indigo themed shower just seemed right.

The cakes were from Freeport Bakery (I’ll take any special occasion / or excuse to pick up one of their cakes).  Fudge Chocolate Cake.  Carrot Cake.

My sweet college roomie who is due with a baby girl just 4 weeks after me!  Two holiday babies coming right up.  I’m already joking that we’ll have to make this an arranged marriage.

The sweetest gift–a hand stitched quilt by my Nana.

And the true star of the afternoon–my cousin’s sweet baby girl, Aria.

Tip | For those who live in Sacramento–we ordered catering from Juno’s and OBO.  The Juno’s kale salad is my ultimate craving (pregnant or not.)–it is SO good that I get it almost weekly.  And we also ordered sides of farro and beets from OBO.  Both of which are super yummy.  So basically I thought of my favorite meal and hoped everyone would enjoy it too.
