Elevate Your Next Pool Day

Last week I had my first pool day!  As soon as the temps hit 90+ you better believe I went in search of water.  There’s just nothing I love more than a relaxing day by the pool.  I invited a few girlfriends to join me out at Park Winters (their tucked away pool made us feel as if we had escaped down to Palm Springs!) and I surprised them by turning our late afternoon cool-down sesh into happy hour in partnership with Bota Box who sent over the wine.  To make things feel a bit more special than just your average pool day I brought a stash of my vintage textiles to lounge on, a set of my Nana’s glassware (gives me a good excuse to pull them out and makes the rosé sipping feel fancy), and extra hats just in case the girls forgot / wanted to wear one.  I didn’t have long before I needed to get back to Rex but just the quick escape (about 40 minutes from Sacramento) made me feel like I was on vacation!  Also girlfriend time is the perfect recharge in itself, am I right?

Pool Day Necessities |  Always sunscreen.  A wide brimmed hat and chic swim coverup (I’m really into a lightweight robe or caftan to look stylish when poolside).  Fresh fruits and nuts for easy on-the-go healthy snacks.  A stack of magazines.  I also like to elevate my beverages by bringing along and serving in vintage glasses.  It just makes the happy hour feel a bit more special.

This portable wine brand has really changed my mind when it comes to boxed wines.  Most importantly, it’s good high quality premium wine!  Secondly, the packaging is environmentally friendly and super convenient for traveling, or just your everyday adventures–a pool day, bbq outing, hiking–as you don’t have to worry about glass breaking or bringing along a bottle opener which I always forget.  For the occasion I brought along a couple boxes of rosé (4 bottles are in each box) and Chardonnay minis (3 glasses are in each container) for the gals to try.  I’m currently limiting myself to one glass these days so it’s nice to open up a mini rather than a whole bottle if it’s just going to be another girlfriend and myself.  Also the boxes can keep in the fridge for up to 3 months so I don’t feel bad wasting or obligated to finish a bottle.

Bota Box’s packaging is also 100% recyclable which is nice to know especially if brining along on travels or to various venues.

I’m already looking forward to my next pool day out at Park Winters as it’s just such a relaxing vibe and oasis.  Just a quick drive from Sacramento and you instantly feel like you’re on vacation.

Thank you to Bota Box for sponsoring this post!
