While back in New York I made sure to stop by the Nexxus New York Salon in Tribeca again for a little hair revival. Traveling and New York in general always takes a toll on my hair so it was a much needed mid-week treat for my locks. (In my dream world I’ll continue to make a trip to their gorgeous salon part of every trip back east!)
Nexxus printed the cutest salon menus for fashion week and were offering a variety of treatments and styling options. I always prefer to look like myself so I asked for my regular messy waves (I know boring)–but my hairstylist ended up giving me my best styled yet seemingly un-styled hair ever. I felt like myself but way cooler when he was finished. Tips to achieve the look below!
Healthy locks and a sleek blow dry is of course the best foundation for this look. I was in such a need of a hair cut but after giving my hair a much needed drink of nutrients and washing with Nexxus New York Salon Care Oil Infinite Shampoo and Conditioner you couldn’t even tell how dry my ends were. For extra shine and a silky smooth finish a few drops of my favorite secret weapon, Nexxus New York Salon Care Oil Infinite Nourishing Hair Oil does the trick.
Now for the styling! The trick is to not “curl” the hair but instead to create loose waves that mimic the natural bend of your hair. To do this the wand is key (this is the curling wand they use at Nexxus–which I’ve since ordered for myself).
After using the wand to create natural waves throughout, add a bit of “I just woke up like this” oomph by back combing a few sections at the crown of your head. Then just shake it out and spritz with a little hair spray or texturing spray for additional body. My stylist finished with the Nexxus New York Salon Care Comb Thru Finishing Mist giving my hair a flexible hold.
Before leaving I shopped their adorable retail “therapee” store–an assortment of snacks and hair products. All of the important things that one might need during a busy week! My goodies were packaged up in the cutest clear clutch and I was off to see the Veronica Beard presentation uptown.
