Loft Life: Dining

I really took my time decorating our loft since moving back to California and now, almost a year later, it’s finally feeling (almost!) complete. The area for a kitchen table has been empty since we moved in, so I was ecstatic to find one that met all of my requirements recently which means–hurrah–we have been eating like real 29 and 30 year old adults over here. I’m so not a fan of furniture that you have to be careful around and love that if I accidentally draw on it, spill wine on it, or scratch it… these marks will only add to the already distressed and colored character of the wood. I’m also pretty stoked about my early birthday present this year: a bench that was made from an old door in China. I found it at my favorite home decor store in my hometown (Nantucket Home). It too has so much character, compliments the table, and is a statement piece in itself. Now all we need are some chairs…

Here’s some of the inspiration I turned to as I hunted and dreamed up my ideal rustic-meets-industrial casual dining situation…
