San Francisco Mornings

When I’m in San Francisco I typically invite myself to stay over at my sister’s place (and always with very little notice–sorry girl!). She happens to live in my old apartment so the creaky hallway, my old bed (my first big girl purchase that I made when I graduated from college and moved out on my own), and the colorful neighborhood at the top of Nob Hill will forever feel like home. When by myself I wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else, but on the rare occasion that I get to stay in a hotel it always feels like a staycation and gives me a fresh perspective of this city that I love so.

While in San Francisco for the set up and weekend of our SYLLABUS Pop Up, I stayed at Le Meridien SF in the financial district. I got quite used to waking up to the above view of the Bay Bridge which reminded me of my very first SF apartment in North Beach and my similar morning routine. I loved opening our curtains each morning to the foggy view of Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance. Even in the mad rush to get ready in the mornings because at that time I was commuting out of the city and traffic (even back then) was always an issue–my roommate and I always enjoyed our coffee with a view. We’d crank up the heat (those old SF apartments can be very chilly), turn on our morning tunes, sip our coffee, and curl our hair while the morning fog slowly slipped away. It’s that mix of nostalgia and the coziness of the fog that is so quintessential San Francisco.
