TriBeca Brunchin’: Smith & Mills

When it comes to dining I much prefer a funkier vibe over fancy white table cloths. On this past New York trip two of my favorite spots were: Cafe Select (for the twinkly lights) and Smith & Mills (for the hidden, tucked away vibe). I made brunch plans to go to Smith & Mills with my girlfriend Chris having actually completely forgotten I had been there a couple years prior for drinks, but it was fun to experience again during the daylight. This spot is so tiny that you could easily walk right past it without realizing it was even there. At night it is packed–often times with a celeb or two–but during the day it’s one of those neighborhood gems that you can simply walk into without a reservation. (Definitely my pace on a sleepy Sunday afternoon.) Chris and I went here for more of an afternoon snack–er, breakfast round 2–so we stuck with a couple small dishes to share. The feta and watermelon salad (something I always order and forget how easy it would be make at home) and of course, avocado toast. There’s nothing I love more than girlfriends and a mid-day bar-like vibe for brunch.

After brunch we stopped by La Garćonne and Chris showed me where Taylor Swift lives. Don’t worry I played it really cool.
