Trick Yourself: Vacay State of Mind

The older I get the more I’m learning how important it is to take time for myself.  I’ve always been someone who values my alone time and now between managing a small business (the never ending emails and non-stop buzzing of the phone, ah!) and balancing life with Rex, disconnecting is so key for me.  I’ve learned it’s all about tricking yourself into that vacay state of mind!  Even just the smallest vacay-like indulgence–reading a magazine front to cover on a pretty blanket in our backyard (makes it feel a bit more special) is so luxurious and just the pickup I need.  This week I’ve been a bit spoiled in the recharge department with two fun mid-week getaways that made me feel totally refreshed.  One, another day spent here with a bunch of really cool, inspiring moms throughout the Bay.  And secondly, an afternoon at Park Winters.  The 90+ degree temps meant I pulled out my first pair of shorts and bared those shoulders.  It also means I skipped the makeup in favor of loads of sunscreen.  These white legs weren’t quite ready for their debut but it has to happen at some point.
