Cheetah is the New Black is the girlfriend you turn to for a daily dose of inspiration.

Cheetah is the New Black is an ever evolving space where I share snippets of my life-what’s inspiring me, style, photography, travels, design, beauty and motherhood. What started as a personal outlet in 2009 (during a major cheetah and leopard-print phase) has become so much more. Little did I know that a personal style diary-that started with photos snapped from my phone during my lunch breaks at work-would lead me down quite a different career path. And one that I can now balance with motherhood (my best chapter yet!). For that, I am so incredibly thankful for my supportive readers and the various opportunities Cheetah is the New Black has brought my way.

I’m a born, raised, and very proud northern California girl. Although I grew up in a smaller town (Chico), I’m a city girl at heart (much of my childhood was spent with family in San Francisco after all). I feel most myself in San Francisco, New York (where we spent a couple of years before kids) and London! Although I also need my nature fix often, and my husband and I dream of living that ranch lifestyle with a garden one day.

I ran off to the Bay Area for college where I attended Santa Clara University, met my future husband and first truly fell in love with design and fashion. Soon after graduating from Santa Clara with a pre-med degree in Combined Sciences (very exciting stuff), I realized medicine wasn’t for me. I bounced around at a couple of start-ups before landing my first job in the creative world at Pixar. It was here that I officially realized I needed to be doing something creative. My then boyfriend (now husband) encouraged me to start a blog-which at the time I knew very little about but quickly fell in love with the supportive online community.

Jump forward a couple years–we got married, and I followed T to the east coast for his graduate school program. At this time CITNB was still very much a hobby… but it allowed me to connect with some incredible brands, landed me my first styling opportunities, and later a job as the fashion editor for ELLE magazine. It was a dream job for me-creating content for the ELLE girl, attending fashion week, meeting some of my favorite designers (hiii Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen of The Row)-and gave me a new perspective on the industry.

After moving back to the west coast, I was the buyer and helped open and design a women’s store. The store is no longer open but it was another invaluable experience.

My husband and I bought our first home and spent a couple of years completely remodeling it and making it our own. It was through this process that I fell in love with interior design, entertaining and ultimately became more of a homebody.

Today, when I’m not chasing after my 4 year old son, Rex, and 1.5 year old daughter, Willow… I am feeding my creative spirit with styling projects, select brand collaborations, photography and consulting. I’m happiest when I’m with my family. I’m always up for an adventure, love exploring new towns, and can either be found with a cup of hot tea in my hand or a glass of Pinot Noir come happy hour.
