As a pretty lazy makeup girl (I like as minimal of a makeup routine in the AM as possible)… I’ve been surprising myself this month, and am enjoying taking a bit more time getting ready. I’ve been experimenting with new shades. Playing around with a two-step bronzing process. And get this, have even sold myself on a beauty product that I’ve never quite understood: primers. (Because why the extra step right?… Read on.) Of course my focus is always on my nighttime routine for clean and hydrated skin but I’m playing around with more illumination and radiance to make that summer glow last. Here’s what my August beauty regime is looking like and a few newbie products I’m loving this month…
On clean skin I dab a few drops of face oil to moisturize. I go through oils so quickly because I can’t get enough! A few drops at night and in the morning before moisturizing (always). A new one I’ve been trying and loving is from Osmia Organics.
Next up, primer. Why the extra step? I’m loving the added radiance and the smoothness / how it preps your skin for foundation. Laura Mercier has always been a go-to brand of mine for tinted moisturizers and so I decided to give their primers a try. Love this one with spf for added sun protection throughout the day, and this one for an extra dewy summer glow. They’re both light-weight and are perfect for prepping the skin for foundation. You can wear it alone if you want a makeup free kinda day, or if going out or to work, apply foundation over the top. (Tip: I like to go one shade darker with my foundation in the summer.) This foundation has amazing long-lasting coverage. If I apply in the morning I can go all day without reapplying… (which is key in my world because again, I’m lazy when it comes to beauty). So there you have it, I’ve sold myself on the primer / foundation duo.
Two step bronzing for that ultra-summer glow! | Sculpt with the a matte bronzer first (I like to put it on my cheekbones and the top of my forehead–wherever the sun hits naturally) and then a light dusting with an illuminating bronzer or powder on the cheekbones, bridge of the nose, chin, corner of the eyes. Anyway you want an extra shimmer.
And the lip gloss / stick hybrid of sorts that I’ve been obsessed with all summer from Chantecaille. Both Patience and Sari Rose are my ideal shades. Patience is a pretty pink-nude and Sari Rose is slightly darker with a hint of brown-pink nude. Obsessed. They’re great for color but feel hydrating and more like you’re wearing a gloss.
