Hair Notes

30 days with John Frieda and a few other hair related notes…

1. I cut my hair shorter this past fall and have kept it just above my shoulders ever since. After years and years of experimenting, I think I’ve finally found my ideal length! Shorter is just so gosh darn easy. Yes I miss longer pony tails and the ease of a messy top knot, but this shorter, low-maintanence thing just can’t be beat.

2. You know I love to play with my color so I keep continuing to switch that up. Whenever anyone asks me what color I have going on I usually can’t even remember because it’s typically some kind of faded situation. Right now it’s a sort of caramel ombré meets dark brownish red on top.

3. I’m not particular when it comes to hair products, and am always up for trying new ones which is why I’ve spent the past couple of weeks testing out John Frieda’s new at-home color refreshing gloss for color treated hair (hence the photo booth-esque fun). It’s not permanent (you just apply in the shower and rinse off before you get out) but for $12.95, it’s doing a pretty gosh darn good job at enhancing my color in-between salon appointments.

4. I like to let my hair air dry as much as I can. Typically I’ll blow dry the side swept bangs and let everything else dry naturally. If I don’t have time to dry my bangs and along the part, I’ll pull my hair into a low bun and let my hair dry like so.

5. I curl the front pieces or the whole head if needed in small sections. Most important: shake out curls so they’re more messy and less spirally perfect. Set with hairspray or sculpting gel, or whatever you have around the house to give it some texture and body.

6. Beanies and hats in the fall / winter are my best friends. Fact: I like messy rather than perfect curls so sometimes I’ll wear a beanie around my apartment just to mess things up a bit.

7. If I had it my way my hair would look like this everyday.

8. I had a lot of fun shooting these silly photos in collaboration with John Frieda, and I hope you get at least a fraction of a giggle from this post because I sure was cracking up.
