Gone Country: Park Winters

As this feels like the last official week to celebrate all things fall before slipping into the festive-craze of the holidays I’ve been doing just that–slowing down to soak up the final days of my favorite season.  From harvesting rice recently up north in my hometown, to holding my first chicken and making jam in Winters.  Then today, Monday, I cleared my calendar in favor of heading up to a friend’s ranch in Cool.  The scenic view of the yellows and oranges of the grape vine covered hills along the winding roads were worth the drive out to their property in itself.  After traipsing around, a wild ATV ride exploring the 60 some acres, Rex getting to pet the cutest miniature goats, and me, getting my crisp country air fix–I drove off, hot cup of coffee in hand, Rex snoozing in the back seat and a new playlist on repeat realizing how necessary and good for the soul country days like this are.

Excited to share a mini series of posts from a recent trip out to Park Winters… in which I did just that–soaked up all of the fall things and sweet aspects of a slower country lifestyle.  For those who aren’t familiar, Park Winters is a magical property some 45 minutes outside of Sacramento, in Winters.  It’s an adorable escape from the city for a slower pace and dose of simple country pleasures (I’ve shared a glimpse of the property’s pool in past posts, here and here).  Park Winters is both a Bed & Breakfast and gorgeous setting for weddings or events, and they also put on amazing farm-to-table dinners in which most of the ingredients come straight from the property.  So much thought has gone into preserving the history and everything they’re doing out there that it’s just such a special and inspiring place to retreat to.  As a creative I crave my downtime and have been especially needing and seeking out my nature fix lately.  There’s just something really magical about being out there that is so good for the spirit.
