King’s Highway Palm Springs Breakfast

I didn’t mean to take almost a week off from posting, but that’s what happens when you’re busy hanging in the desert with your two fave ladies (mom and sis).  We flew down south last Sunday for our annual mother-daughter Palm Springs trip… timed just perfectly with a pretty crazy hot heatwave.  We almost canceled the night before, mainly just worried about Rex, but since it was going to be just about as hot in Sacramento (what’s the difference between 120 and 110 degrees anyway?) we thought, what the heck.  We’d rather be stuck indoors together in PS.  So it was a totally different trip than years before.  Less time at the pool and much more time indoors playing with toy cars and seeking out cool (as in temp) breakfast spots.  But all-in-all a really great week.

Since we mainly ventured out in the early mornings, a 6:30 AM baby alarm clock worked in our favor.  This meant that we had the pick of brunch spots without any wait times.  Thanks Rex!  Every visit to the desert I make sure to eat at Norma’s over at the Parker Hotel so we made sure to go there on one of our first days.  And later in the week we dined at King’s Highway in the Ace Hotel.  Be sure to order the avocado toast.  It’s pretty gosh darn delish.

Brunch style made easy in a cool graphic tee from The Great, high-waisted shorts (Madewell denim doesn’t always work on me but I’ve been living in this pair!) and playful earrings.  Really loving the oversized earring trend this summer!  I can’t get enough of this wooden pair from Sophie Monet which has me searching around for other fun styles.  I wore them all week long in the desert–nothing felt complete without them.
