Fall Mantle / Living Room Refresh

If you’ve been following along, I’ve been giving our living room a refresh over the past year and am finally so happy with the mix and how it has turned out. Our living room has a moodier vibe than most rooms in our house with the black leather couch and black fireplace and so I wanted to play that up while also brightening the feel of the room overall. After finalizing the style of the room, changing the mantle display felt like the final piece of the puzzle–adding interest with the sculptural additions while also making the room feel more open.

So happy with it guys! I tried to link everything for you below! xx

The first change I made in this room was a new rug (the black and white Moroccan rug we had in here I loved but ultimately it was too small for the room). I love the subtle pattern of this one and the cream color which ties in the lighter wooden coffee table. Getting a larger rug to ground the seating space and swapping our oversized coffee table for something smaller made a huge difference and instantly made the room feel more spacious.

We added these chairs from Lulu & Georgia for extra seating which I love because the slim, low design makes the space feel roomier. The mid-century modern feel of the chairs also go well with the rest of our house. Lastly, these Jenni Kayne pillows brightened the chairs, tying in the lighter woods in the room perfectly. I couldn’t love this natural stripe pattern more.

I swapped a piece of art that we already had just to see size-wise what would work over the fireplace. Art is somewhere I’m wanting to start investing more in, and now I’m on the lookout for an emerging artist / piece that speaks to me for this spot!

I had originally envisioned this sculptural piece on the bookcase next to my desk but after playing around with the two on our mantle and fireplace I ultimately loved them together as a set.

Originally I had wanted to swap out this more industrial hook mirror for this mirror turned on its side (similar) for more of a Kelly Wearstler-vibe. But this length and shape of this gold mirror worked so well in the entryway of the room that I decided to leave the hook mirror in its place. I’m sure I’ll swap it out at some point but it’s not bothering me at the moment!
