3 Simple Ways to Transition Your Home for Fall

I’ve been in full-on nesting mode over here (although I’m not really sure if it’s the baby or the new season).  Either way, I’ve been all about getting my fall fix, prepping for the upcoming holidays, and adding simple touches around our house for a cozier October / November vibe.  I shared a few of my favorite ways to transition your living space in preparation of the cooler months over on My Domaine this week in collaboration with Jo Malone London.  They’ve bottled up the perfect fruity floral essence of the season in their new collection, Basil and Neroli (seriously so yum!)… and I have been incorporating the scent throughout our entire house.

My top three tips for transitioning into fall?

1) Add texture (blankets and cozy fur throws over couches and benches / beds instantly add that cozy vibe)

2) Incorporate scents reminiscent of the season (think fresh aromas that are both fruity and floral and not too strong)

3) Create centerpieces that incorporate moody / earthy colored florals or seasonal fruits (next on my fall decor wanna-do list: make a fall floral wreath!)

I swapped back in our bench for the holiday season (as we’ll need more room for family / friends around the table).  Adding a furry black throw over the wooden bench instantly gives the room a warmer feel.  I’m also all about easy centerpieces–simply displaying our recent apple pickings in a bowl with a candle sets a cozy fall mood as you enter our home.

Swap any bright blooms or greens for earthier colored florals.  I like to pick up a couple of bunches when grocery shopping or at a local floral stand and re-arrange them myself.  All of these bundles were just from our local Trader Joes.

A fall-like scent goes a long way!  Set out diffusers (that aren’t too strong!) and swap summery lotions and body products for seasonal collections.
