#10Things May 15

This week in a nutshell: I devoured a lot of Joan Didion. I pulled some of her books off my shelf last week that I had never finished and began re-reading. That led to me wanting to re-watch her documentary which is on Netflix (a previous #10Things mention)… actually I thought I hadn’t watched until I started watching it and realized I had in fact already seen. This spiraled me into googling more of her articles and looking for older images of her as well as taking to Instagram to ask about your favorite Joan Didion reads. Your favorite: Play It As It Lays. So I ordered that one along with Blue Nights to read next. I also asked you what’s been inspiring you as of late and loved the responses! So many of you have been turning to nature, as have I. Planting gardens, turning to local fresh ingredients to get inspired in the kitchen––same!

I’ve realized I have been missing spontaneity the most throughout this sheltering in place. So I made that more of a priority this week, that and continuing to slow down and find beauty in nature gave me a bit of normalcy.

We have Willow’s first birthday to look forward to celebrating this weekend. And even though a first birthday is really just for the parents––I’m determined to make it fun for Rex as he’s older and is the one who is most looking forward to a party and of course, cake!

Some photos and links from my week for you… xx

A few of you recommended and said you’re reading On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous so I just ordered it on Amazon. (My bedside reading stack continues to grow and I have high-hopes, as I’ve been on more of a reading kick again lately, to get through it during this slower time!)
