Officially feeling summer ready–we broke in our new backyard patio! After spending all weekend working in the yard, power washing the back patio, windows and house… (k, actually that was all T but I helped with some gardening and window drying) we finally celebrated our weekend’s worth of house chores with some Sunday night al fresco dining. And!… it was a chance to officially break in our new backyard patio set as it was one of our first weekend’s home since setting it up. We got the set locally, from Lumens–most known for their lighting but I was surprised to discover they have quite the selection of furniture as well. I actually didn’t even realize the amount of outdoor furniture Lumens had until I was searching online for outdoor lighting. We first replaced the exterior lights on our house last fall, and that’s when I stumbled upon this dining set (it’s the Skargaarden Djuro Dining Collection). Couldn’t be more in love! We eat as many meals as possible outside during the warmer months, are constantly hosting our friends and gathering family so a proper outdoor dining table with more seating has been high on the summer wish-list. PS: Lumens also has an awesome selection of lounge furniture–if only we had more space!

Stepping up my summer bar cart situation with this roll bar trolley by Cane-Line. Isn’t she cute?! I stocked her for the occasion with plenty of options: rosé and red for the ladies, whiskey for the guys.
My summer style pretty much summed up here–no makeup, big earrings, romantic dress. | Pulled out this sweet Isabel Marant dress (oldie, but long time fave) and my newest earring faves by Sophie Monet.
Floral Ice Cubes! | Currently making me feel extra fancy these days. Upping my chilled vino presentation! If you want to use the floral ice cubes inside your drinks I would recommend buying edible flowers. Otherwise I just clipped these from flowers I had around the house and used petals I gathered from an afternoon walk Rex and I took. My only other tip would be place the flowers face up in the water trays (before freezing) this way the prettiest side is facing up.
Gathered herbs on the bar cart… if anyone wants to use in their cocktails. I also put a few fresh herbs at each place on the table settings.
Pesto “Zoodles” with Basil and Mushrooms | First time making this dish and it was so delicious! Simmer mushrooms, onions, and garlic in a little olive oil then add zucchini “zoodles” as your pasta replacement and toss with pesto. Add chopped tomatoes, basil and parmesan cheese. Also just as yummy served cold so it’s an easy one to serve guests as you don’t have to worry about keeping it hot.
It’s so crazy what new lighting can do for your space. Whether inside or out! We put off replacing our outside lights for a few years but once I finally found something that matched the old esthetic it was such a huge improvement! (Went with these on the house and these on our pillars both in antique gold.) Also, these vintage string lights for atmosphere were a must!
