Backyard Summer Happy Hour

21 July

Warm summer nights that linger on (by candle light), with close friends and multiple empty bottles of bubbles and wine to show for your good time–it just doesn’t get better than that.  As mentioned, we’ve been putting our little backyard to good use this summer!  I’ve enjoyed spending all of the seasons in our home, but I’m going to have to say these summer evenings have made this season my absolute favorite.  There’s something so special about our tucked away, unruly garden of an oasis.  It’s perfectly serene after the long week, and now that we have a set of outdoor patio furniture to lounge around on (all from my go-to local decor shop: Design Alchemy) it’s the only place I want to be once Friday rolls around.

While I was in the kitchen raiding our fridge, my girlfriend Kristine disappeared into the backyard setting the scene with her assortment of indigo and mud cloth textiles.  She snagged my ever growing collection of pillows, we pulled out the candles, and once the sun went down on came the twinkly lights.

The highlight of the evening, of course, was discovering I had a bottle of bubbles begging to be popped.  We threw together a pretty impressive and tasty berry infused cocktail (all thanks to Stephanie).  Also, worth noting, because I currently can’t get enough–you have to pick up and try the salted marcona almonds with rosemary from Trader Joe’s.  Oh my gosh are they addictingly good…  and paired nicely with our assortment of cheeses!
