Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

One thing I’ve never taken for granted is the fact that my guy and I are both from the same hometown–which makes visiting our families (and holidays!) far less complicated. Fun Fact: We didn’t actually meet until college and it was our moms that met first and encouraged us to meet. Moms obviously know best, as we hit it off right away.

This Mother’s Day we’re headed home, up north, to Chico for the weekend. My Nana and Papa will be joining for the weekend as well so I’ll have all of the special mamas in my life together! When it comes to gifts for those special ladies I’m always partial to some kind of pampering– beauty or flowers (and a sweet note) always top my list. This year, after perusing PayPal’s awesome selection of gift card options my guy and I rounded up some additional gift ideas that are a bit more original…

1. Plan a mother-daughter (-grandaughter) getaway. Book spontaneous flights or secure a rad house on Airbnb to get the trip planning in motion. My mom, sister, Nana and I went to Sonoma for a weekend this past fall and had the best time celebrating my Nana’s birthday with wine tasting and a cooking class.

2. Mother-Daughter spa day–yes please! Again, I’m partial to any kind of pampering or getaway. Picking the weekend is always the hardest part so have a couple of dates ready to propose.

3. Treat her to a new pair of summer sunnies… it is that time of year!

4. Stock her wine fridge–or plan a day to head to the wine country together.

5. For the movie buff. I know my parents love their Sunday afternoon movie dates.

6. Load her up with her favorite tunes from iTunes or Spotify. Or even better, speakers for her office (the Sonos mini is my favorite).

7. Skype credit (if you’re long distance from your mama)–you might have to show her how to set up an account if she doesn’t already have one.

8. Snag concert tickets or in my mom’s case, tickets to watch her boys, a.k.a The Giants.
