Poolside Essentials

Most of my childhood memories take place in our backyard–many of which revolve around the pool. Marco polo games with our neighbors, snacking on cheese and crackers with mom while dipping our feet in the shallow end, and hanging on for dear life as my dad played the “whale,” trying to knock us off of the giant island raft. I’ve never been much of a sun tanner or beach bum, but boy am I a girl who loves to jump in and splash around.

I’m heading back up to Chico this weekend and the first thing I threw into my bag was my new suit. (I went with the one-piece!). I’ve been planning a 30th birthday dinner for my guy so I’ll be busy setting that up most of Saturday but since the temps look like they’ll be close to 90, a mid-day dip will be more than necessary.

Here are a few of my current poolside essentials…

Beauty: When poolside, I typically swap any makeup for spf but if I’m trying to impress or want to look a bit more presentable then I’ll opt for a BB Cream or tinted moisturizer with a light powder. I’ll add a touch of illuminator and a spritz of my favorite perfume (currently: Elizabeth & James Nirvana). Also, I’m all about the opal white, almost clear mani / pedi this summer as it just feels so fresh!

Hair: If in need of a touch-up post swim… these are a few of my current hair product faves. BB Brilliantine for sculpting existing waves, or run through wet hair and let air dry. Finish with BB City Swept (thanks for the tip Gabby!) for added texture. My favorite dry shampoo ever is this one, and if you’re looking for something to spritz on as you jump out of the water try this.
