Power Brunchin’

If there’s one thing I’ve been reflecting on lately it’s: how kick-ass the ladies in my life are. Eat-pray-loving your way through Europe and moving to a new city where you don’t know anyone will quickly prove who your true blue friends are. Pick a city, move across the country and you will see… (there have been numerous tear-filled phone calls, and positive pep-talks over these past couple of months and years, and for that I’m incredibly thankful).

I don’t know if it’s the fact that I’ve been actively seeking out girlfriends in my new city or simply the fact that I’m entering a new life stage, but I’ve been thinking more and more about the individuals I want to continue to surround myself with, and the kind of positive and encouraging friend I hope to be in return.

I recently collaborated with Thierry Mugler Angel as part of their #AngelTribes campaign, which gave me the perfect opportunity to round up a few of my most inspiring, intriguing, and empowering ladies. I coordinated a brunch date in the city with what I would call my “tribe” (minus a bunch of other close gals in my life that sadly couldn’t make it as they’re literally all over the country!). This meeting of the minds included: my cousin (one of the most positive, and fun-loving gals you’ll ever meet), my little sister (who is my “younger big sis” as she’s a very old soul and an incredible listener–I’m the one constantly going to her for advice), and two of my original SF blogging besties, Krystal and Heather (who also happen to be two of the brightest and most inspiring gals I know). We chatted new endeavors and upcoming leaps of faith while drinking The Plant’s kool-aid (aka watermelon and strawberry juice). Seriously, these ladies are killing it–exciting things are happening for all of them right now, and I love cheering them on.

Each of us have own our unique style, independence, and point of view so it was great to have the chance to really recognize that, and to highlight them. And yes, I’m a cheeseball at heart. I also recently read #GirlBoss, and am all about encouraging my friend’s to take more personal and career-related risks. In fact, I’ve just taken on one of the scariest [good scary] endeavors of my own (more on that to come!). So the timing is all quite fitting!
