Everyday Inspiration

Even after living in Midtown for the past 2 years the charming downtown Sacramento neighborhood still surprises me. It’s easy to get stuck in a routine, driving the same streets home or to the grocery store but randomly, I found myself taking a circuitous route the other day which led me to this little scene. I don’t know why, but it was so cool to me. I found myself finding inspiration in the simplest of things this week–from lighting to even the cracks on the street. We often feel most inspired while traveling and when we’re in moments of change but if you’re open to it there really is inspiration all around, even in the most mundane of every days.

I brought my girlfriend Ashley back with me to my cacti stop sign spot, and that’s when we stumbled upon this porch which made us feel as if we were transported somewhere else entirely. Maybe the south? It’s moments like this that totally make my day. And this is what I’ve grown to love most about Sacramento–such a mix of character and nature!

And about the look |  I bought this dress in Hayes Valley at one of my favorite boutiques: Dish. It’s oversized shape is forgiving (might be a good Thanksgiving Day option, ha) and yet the slim sleeves make it more flattering. It’s one of those classic striped pieces that is perfect year round so I know it will be getting lots of play. And the fact that it’s silk makes it a bit more elevated, yet still totally casual. Just my vibe.

I stumbled across a line while reading the Cleobella founder’s travel diary which fit this week’s vibe to a T ~ “life is full of beauty and inspiration if you seek it.”
