Foundational Spring Essentials

A go-to look of mine as we transition into warmer temps has always been to pull out all of the white from my closet as it feels forever fresh and timeless (no matter how long said pieces have been hanging in your closet). Thanks to a few warmer days this week, I’ve been so happy to be enjoying the sunshine in these lighter hues again!

When thinking of key foundational pieces for spring, a few timeless essential wardrobe staples keep popping up in my mind…

1.  Tops that serve as your go-to’s that you can always grab for, look chic, and can be layered and worn with everything from denim to skirts (from a timeless silk silhouette to a cashmere fitted ribbed knit)

2. A beautiful skirt or dress that will take you from work to night (a floral that feels like a neutral and can be mixed in seamlessly with everything you own or classic solid hue–your lifestyle and closet will determine)

3. Fresh pant (I’m leaning towards a chic wide-leg silk style or a new white denim pair personally–but maybe it’s a clean new blue-denim skinny or black denim for you)

4. Beautiful pebbled carry-all leather bag to take you through your day and elevate your look

When thinking of layering tops–I’m loving both this square neck cashmere knit and this cropped silk tee, both from Cuyana. The cropped silhouette of the silk tee feels like a fresh take on longer lengths you already own. Pair with a high-waisted wide-leg pant for work and a skinny jean for date night.

This time of year I love an off-white skirt (this knitted fit-and-flare style is a perfect transitional weather piece and you could wear with boots on colder days) or off-white dress (another fave I’ve been wearing a lot is this ribbed knit dress from Rachel Pally (now on sale!). Another spring skirt essential: a floral print that acts as another neutral staple mixing with everything. If you already own one, opt for a pretty blush silk slip skirt to pair with all of the soft spring hues.

Jeans really act as the foundation of my California-wardrobe but if you’re headed to a dressy event or office, hands down a chic silk wide-leg pant would be at the top of my list. I’ve also already been living in this linen pant from Ozma. The heavier linen is beautiful and I of course love that it has pockets (!!)–key in my book.

And lastly, at the top of my spring wishlist this season was a chic leather tote. Something big enough for my notepad and daily essentials for work. A bag that was beautiful and timeless but also functional for the day-to-day school drop-offs and meetings etc. I love the clean lines and look of both this larger hobo style bag from Cuyana as well as this structured, slightly smaller handbag from The Row.
