NYC Date Night

22 February

I just flew home from a weekend spent in Palm Springs and it’s almost hard to look / go through all of my snowy, bundled-up photos from New York last week.  So I’m picking the less cold of the bundle to share today.  I was in the city for fashion week, but since my guy was there for work as well, there was plenty of hang and play time with him around the city!  Despite the weather, which we actually didn’t mind too much (after living upstate for a year I can hang! but he’s especially crazy and usually goes sans jacket),… it was so good to be back together and to pop into all of our old haunts–like “Pure” cupcakes at Sweet Revenge definitely happened.

This particular look was from an especially romantic date night (on Valentine’s Day).  We’re not typically the type to go out or make a big to-do over the holiday, in fact, I’d rather just hang with all of my friends… but when in New York right?! For the occasion I wore this slip dress, belted (a go-to date night look for me right now)–and layered as many jackets as I could (not pictured) on top.  Also, a touch of sequins and metallic are in right now and since I haven’t really had any excuses to wear my sequined jackets in Sacramento I made sure to bring my favorite sequined jacket along for layering.

Side Note | I always get a little sad towards the end of the season if I haven’t had the chance to wear some of my favorite layers. New York is always a good excuse.

I searched OpenTable during our flight back east thinking I should probably line something up for the 14th as I knew most restaurants would be packed.  Again, if I was home I wouldn’t even go out which is why I totally forgot to even think about making a reservation.  When I’m heading to New York I always narrow down the neighborhood I want to eat in first making the restaurant search so much easier.  Since we used to live in the West Village I thought it would be fun to hit up some of our old faves, but they were all booked.  That’s when I stumbled upon a lonely 8:30pm resie at Beatrice Inn.  Such a cool, romantic and old-school New York spot!  It’s located across from Cafe Cluny, and I had remembered spotting the neon sign before but hadn’t ever heard much about it.  It was by far our best night of the trip–a fairly spontaneous one, comical subway ride downtown from The Palace Hotel where we were staying, and late night sips at the bar.
