The sunflower fields in Woodland are in full bloom right now, and they’re pure summer magic!! I swear they’re casting a golden hue for miles. If you have a chance to drive out there it’s so worth it and made my entire weekend. Rex’s too–but because he was excited to point out and watch all of the bumble bees buzz from flower to flower.
We actually didn’t time this photo opp correctly as we were taking the long route home after grabbing lunch in Davis when we stumbled upon these fields (mid-day when the sunflowers are turned down, away from the sun)… but it was still so gorgeous, of course we had to pull over for some snaps. I actually didn’t remember that sunflowers move throughout the day, following the sun from east to west. If you can time a visit in the morning when the sunflowers are facing up, or in the early evening that would be the best time.
I spent the entire weekend in this linen jumpsuit from Midland boutique (remember when I featured this rad LA shop?). It’s their latest collab with designer Christy Dawn*–they’re always working on something cool! I just love a good comfy jumpsuit and haven’t wanted to wear anything else since it arrived! The collab is currently only for pre-sale so if interested you can call or email the store. Keep an eye on their site as they always have a cool edit of effortless Cali pieces!
* For those who might not be familiar with Christy Dawn, she’s actually originally from Placerville which I think is pretty cool now that I live in Sacramento. Her line is now sewn in downtown Los Angeles, and they make small runs using deadstock fabrics so it has a very environmentally friendly story–you can read all about it here.
Additional jumpsuits I’m crushing on… (in cream and black):
