We just got home from a awesome road trip down the coast (going through all my photos to share soon!!)! We had a few last minute hiccups in our travel itinerary and ended up changing our route a bit but that’s the beauty of a road trip,… and in fact, I think things ended up better than we had originally planned. Since I packed for the whole family (and am now in the midst of unpacking and everyone’s laundry) I thought I’d share what the entire fam brought along for our week-long adventure.
We got to borrow a MINI Countryman for our ride down south this week and it is so much roomier than I actually realized which was a pleasant surprise for all of our stuff. However I still wanted to pack as light as possible because the only bummer about a road trip is the amount of times you unpack and repack your car at each stop along the way. Also, another tricky aspect packing-wise was going from cooler temperatures to desert hot–but, thanks to a mid-week Airbnb house with a washer and dryer we managed to pack pretty gosh darn efficiently I think! Multiple beach towns, various climates, hiking, picnicking… we had the gear for it all.
In My Bag | 2 pairs of jeans (1 skinny, 1 boyfriend). 2 pairs of shorts. 1 jumpsuit. 1 dress + dressier top for evenings out (never got worn, should have known). 1 swimsuit + coverup. 2 cozy sweaters. extra tees and workout pants. denim jacket for the evenings.
Shoe Game | Boots for wearing with my jeans while in the cooler temps. Slides and sandals. And not pictured, hiking / running sneakers.
The Beauty Bag | True Botanics Body Oil. Vintner’s Daughter Serum. Tata Harper Face Scrub (not pictured). Eve Lom Face Balm. Grown Alchemist Face Scrub + Moisturizer.
I may as well have left my makeup bag behind because it was one of those weeks that I just stuck to tinted sunscreen. Here’s the only skincare products I brought and used this week. (Also, have I mentioned these are the best travel makeup removing wipes?–I love that they’re exfoliating on one side, smooth on the other. I stock up on them before any trip.).
Rex’s Bag | I scooped up some new baby Zara things for Rex before our trip… including his first backpack for the trip (which you may have seen over on my Insta Stories). Kids in backpacks might just be the cutest thing, am I right? Other Rex essentials we always travel with (tons of Pampers Pure diapers and wipes, my DIY’d bug repellent, books and stickers to keep him occupied during the drive or when we’re out at meals)…
Tanner’s Bag | The big item we purchased for this trip was a hiking backpack to carry Rex so we could go on some longer trails. Packing-wise T is so easy. He basically lives in Rag & Bone henley’s, shorts or Levis’s. When in doubt for any gifting I just give him a new Rag & Bone shirt… they’re nice enough that he doesn’t buy them for himself but loves and lives in them so they make the ideal birthday / Xmas gifts.
The Beach Bag Essentials | Fallon & Royce Beach Bag. Supergoop Sunscreen. A fun read (to sneak in if you’re lucky). Diapers + Wipes. Beach Towel.
